3 WAYS TECHNOLOGY CAN IMPROVE YOUR STUDY

There is probably nothing you want to get today that you cannot get online; information, goods, services and even friends! In the past, you would have been reading the hard copy of this article in a newspaper or magazine. Now, you are most likely reading this online.

We are in the Information Age, some call it the Digital Age, Computer Age or New Media Age. This is a period in human history when there has been a dramatic shift from an economy based on Industrialization to one based on Information Technology. According to Wikipedia, the world’s capacity to store information in 2014 was equivalent to 4,500 stacks of printed books from the earth to the sun! Just a hundred years ago, the average person was lucky to read 50 books in a lifetime. Today, everyone is confronted with the equivalent of 174 newspapers everyday according to a research from the University of Southern California! That is really huge.

So, what exactly can you benefit from all the information available on the internet? How can you leverage on technology to ensure that you are successful as a student? Here are three ways technology can help you succeed as a student.

1. YOU CAN USE THE INTERNET FOR ASSIGNMENTS

One of the ways you can use technology to boost your success in school is to use the internet for your assignments. There is so much information available to you just by investing a little time to search through the internet. The answers to your questions are not going to come to you; you are going to have to search for them even if you had to consult textbooks. The good thing about the internet is that there are a lot of reliable materials that are readily available and cheap as well. There are many videos and tutorials on the internet that can provide you with answers to the questions that you have to answer. Use sites like Google Scholar, Khanacademy, Bing etc to find answers for your assignments.

2. YOU CAN USE THE INTERNET TO CONNECT WITH LIKE MINDED PEOPLE

The people you associate with will determine whether you succeed or fail in life. If you consistently hang out with people who are not success driven, you will eventually end up being like them. With the internet now, you can join groups and forums online where people of like minds are. It is easier for you to succeed when you surround yourself with people who think like you. You can easily share ideas and get motivation from other people just like you. There are many people and organizations that are willing to mentor you to success.

3. USE THE INTERNET TO LEARN FASTER

With the internet, you can learn faster and also at your own pace. All you need is access to the internet and the willingness to learn. Trust me, there are so many you can learn using the internet. You can learn how to bake, read, solve equations, teach, talk, plait hair, fix phones, use software etc. There are just too many things to learn that you can’t remain ignorant. If you have a passion to learn something, why not go online and find resources? You will get more resources than you thought were available.

The internet has both positive and negative uses. I encourage you to use it positively to succeed as a student.

5 QUICK TIPS

Did you know that games are not the only thing you can do with a phone? Yeah, I know it’s hard to
believe but today, I’m going to introduce you to a lot of other fun things you can do with a phone!

 If you ever lose your way, your Google map can help. All you have to do is input the
correct address of your destination and the voice gives you directions. Try it and see.

 You could become an amateur photographer or videographer. Playing with the
camera, the sun light and different editing apps can help you learn a lot. Even if you
do not want to become a photographer, learning how to take and edit great pictures is
a great skill for the future.

 Have you ever heard anyone say “Google is your friend”? Well, it is, you can literally
ask Google anything including the time, current news and other helpful info. Just
remember to use the keywords so that your search is not muddled up with irrelevant
info. So next time you have an essay to write, Google can help with statistics to back
up your facts.

WHY IS SOCIAL NETWORKING IMPORTANT?

Do you know that humans by nature are social? This explains why we naturally seek to connect and interact with one another for various reasons. And the result can either be positive or negative depending on our approach. Today, I want to show you how you can birth build and grow meaningful relationships using the power of modern technology like social media.

Birthing Relationship – Show yourself friendly

It is important to know that technology on its own cannot help you birth a relationship without you initiating the process. That is to say that technology in itself is just a tool and tools don’t use themselves. To make the most of technologies like social media in birthing relationships you must first be a person who naturally loves making friends. King Solomon in the bible said, “He that wants friends must show himself friendly”.

Building Relationships – Deliver quality content

Showing yourself friendly simply means that you should have something to offer. You must bring some value on board. And in the world of the internet that value is called content. Content could be anything like a video, image, jokes, news, or any piece of information that would be of value to someone else. The best way to tell if your content is good for others is by sincerely asking yourself if it’s good for you. If it’s good for you then, no doubt, it would be good for others too.

Growing Relationships – Increase your influence

The more you share content, the friendlier you become and the more friends you attract to your circle of influence. In computer networking there are basically two key components, these are the server and the client. The server carries the resources while the clients utilize those resources. And as long as the server has resources to share the other computers will remain connected and dependent on it. In social networking it’s exactly the same principle that applies. That means as long as you remain valuable to people they will keep following you whether online or offline.

Rewarding Relationships – Motivation for more

Finally, as your social network increases you should begin to think of ways to start getting commercial value as returns for all your efforts. This is very important because it is what will keep motivating you to provide more values for others. This means that your social network must positively affect you financial net worth. Understanding this point was what made someone like Linda Ikeji. She became Nigeria’s foremost blogger and a multi-millionaire by providing valuable information to the world and getting paid in return. Friends, you too can become the next Linda Ikeji. If you have a phone then you have virtually everything you need to get information from any part of the world and to share your content with the whole world. So, why not start building your social network today. You may not end up reaching one million followers or making a million dollar, but one thing is certain you will end up changing one more life for good. And if that is all you achieved by building a social network then your effort will be worth it. I believe in you. God bless you deeply!
