3 WAYS TO MANAGE TIME EFFECTIVELY

Happy new year to you. I guess your holidays were fabulous. It’s a brand-new year with lots of opportunities for you to move closer to your success in your academics and personal life by following proven success principles. I hope that by the end of 2019, we’ll all be celebrating the successes we have recorded.

For you to succeed, you will need to manage time effectively. The ability to manage and allocate time correctly is what distinguishes high achievers from average people. The problem most people face is that there never seems to be enough time available to do all they want. You have just twenty four hours in a day in which you have to go to school, do house chores, finish assignments, hang out with friends and still rest and sleep. It sounds crazy at times to think about the many things you must accomplish with such little time. I also feel like that at times, but I’ll share three tips with you to help you achieve more with your time.

1. HAVE A TO-DO LIST: One of the things that can help you make the best use of your time is to have a to-do list. Write down all the things you must do in a day no matter how insignificant they may seem. This allows you to know exactly what you must accomplish in a day and gives you a level of control over your time. You may discover that you have more or less than what you think you have to accomplish in a day.

2. REMOVE UNIMPORTANT THINGS FROM YOUR LIST: You must realise that there is just so much you can achieve in a day, so you need to allow only the important things to occupy your time. The easiest way to discover what to stay on your list is to ask yourself what will give you more value if you spend your time on it. For example, if you have to choose between completing your assignment and watching TV or visiting your friends, you may want to consider that completing your assignment will add more value to your education than watching TV or visiting friends.

3. ALLOCATE TIME FOR EVERYTHING: You also have to learn how to allocate time for everything you have on your list. This will allow you to accomplish more. For example, if you have to complete an assignment and help with some house chores, it will be wise to determine how much time you want to spend on each task. If it usually takes you 30 minutes to finish your house chores, it would be unproductive to spend 1 hour 30 minutes on the same chores. Always bear in mind that you have limited time which you cannot afford to waste.

Try to manage time effectively from this year on and see how much more you can achieve. It may not be so easy, but definitely not impossible.

January Newsletter

Welcome to the New Year! I’m so excited about 2019 because we have great plans for you guys! I know we’ve all heard about New Year resolutions and we all know how easily they get discarded so instead of more resolutions, let’s work on something that can actually make us succeed in this year and in the long run. That is managing your time.

Time Management is an important part of your everyday life. It is a skill that should be learnt if we really want to achieve as much as we set out hearts to do. The Bible says, there is time for everything and Time and chance happens to them all. This is because time is important and if we waste it, by the time we realize what is happening, it might be too late to make a change. So the best thing to do is to make great use of your time now and reap the fruits tomorrow.

School resumes soon, how do you manage your time before during and after school?  First, you get up early, leave adequate time to bathe, brush, groom yourself, pack and confirm that everything is intact. Doing this alone prepares you to have a great day. If you rush, you get disorganized and hardly listen in class. When in class, take the short break before the next teacher comes up to sort your notes and revise the last topic. Making noise never helps anyone and whatever you have to discuss can always wait till school closes. At home, don’t forget to get your homework done and do your house chores.

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy! Don’t forget to indulge in safe games and good discussions but try not to overdo it. There are other great tips on this very necessary life skill in the blog section, please check it out every week. Also, we just updated the About Us section so please check that out too.  Don’t forget to stay tuned for all the great stuff we have in this New Year. Have a wonderful start to the year!

The Art of Making Friends

Who would have thought there was an art to making friends? For some people, it is a way of life. Their character and personality draws people to them, for others it’s a different story entirely.

I’ll give you a few tips on making friends.

The first tip is “Be open”. You can make friends at a lot of different places like your place of worship, your school or any other place you visit. When you meet new people, always start with a smile. It helps to soften your face and encourage people to speak to you.

The second tip is “Do not sit alone”! Yes, it’s nice to have a little time to yourself but sitting alone every time makes people think you’re closed off and not interested.

The third tip is “Talk”! Do not be afraid to start a pleasant conversation. Do so with a greeting and a compliment. Don’t be shy to ask questions or throw a few jokes into the conversation. There are an abundance of topics from the weather to politics, school and travel.

The last tip is “Introduce yourself”! Don’t forget to ask for the names of your acquaintances and if you’re comfortable with them, their social media handles or phone numbers.

Take note that while it’s great to make new friends, you should be careful of people who constantly talk down to you or speak badly about you. Such friends are not good for your self esteem and ultimately do more harm than good. Life is not a race and shouldn’t be all about competition.

So while it’s nice to have friends that push you to be better, balance it out with those with whom you can be yourself. A true friend is loyal, trustworthy, reliable and always keeps in touch.

Lucius Seneca says that one of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and be understood. Well, who needs enemies when you can have great friends!

bullying

4 Steps to Handle Bullying

Bullying is repetitive aggressive behaviour towards another person. It can happen verbally, through throwing of insults or hurtful words, physically, by hurting a person or destroying his property.

Let’s put aside the big words for a moment. Does anyone hurt or threaten to hurt you at school? Are you afraid to go to school because of a particular person? Is anyone spreading false rumors about you at school? Chances are you are being bullied. Bullying can start slowly and build up to physical violence or it can just remain verbal but no matter how it starts the fact remains that it eats at ones’ self esteem. It makes you question yourself and puts you in an impossible situation where you think you can’t win.

There are a few ways to handle bullying.

The first step is to report the matter to the school authorities. Speak to a teacher you trust and explain what is happening.

The second step is to speak to your parents. When they know what is happening, they can support you. Knowing you have someone in your corner is important through these kinds of trying times.

Thirdly, always move with your friends. When a bully knows that you have people to stand up to him, he’ll usually avoid those scenarios.

Lastly, know that it is not your fault! Bullying happens as a result of that person’s insecurities and character flaws. Do not be afraid to speak up for yourself but try not to get into a fight.

Now, this month is all about Our Self esteem. On the blog are a couple of topics directly relating to this; Self esteem is your own evaluation of yourself. Basically, it is how you see yourself. If you listen to people who tell you that you can’t make it and you start believing them, you unconsciously begin to act like someone who can’t make it. Anytime you begin to feel low, pick yourself up and connect with great friends. Always avoid negative talk and take care of yourself.

When you have high self esteem, you become confident and can pass exams. Ultimately, you succeed in whatever you put your mind to because you KNOW you can do it and you work accordingly. Once again, I welcome everyone who just joined us and thanks to those who have stayed, we’re going to have a great time together!
